Role

SydWest Multicultural Services has opportunities for confident, reliable, and bilingual Aged Care Workers to join our Aged Care Team. You will provide in-home care services to seniors located across, but not limited to, Blacktown and Cumberland Local Government Areas. 

Our Aged Care Workers provide a range of basic to complex support services so that older Australians can continue living independently in their homes. These include:

Job Description

KEY PURPOSE

The Aged Care Worker is part of the SydWest’s Aged Care Team which is part of SydWest’s Aged

Care Services Division. This position is responsible for providing individual assistance to SydWest’s

Aged Care Consumers as outlined in their individual care plans. The Aged Care Worker role is a

crucial frontline role which ensures all consumers’ needs are met and all services are delivered to a Gold Standard.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide gold-standard, respectful and culturally sensitive in-home personal care (showering, dressing), domestic assistance (cleaning, light housework, laundry assistance and meal preparation) social support, transport and shopping support, flexible respite and a range of other individualised supports to SydWest’s Aged Care Consumers
  • Provide gold-standard customer service to all SydWest Aged Care Consumers
  • Provide SydWest’s Aged Care Consumers services consistent with Aged Care Quality Standards and Aged Care Quality & Safety Commission Policies & Procedures
  • Adhere to SydWest’s Policies & Procedures related to the work being undertaken in order to ensure own & others safety in the workplace
  • Ensuring own and others safety in working within a community / remote related role

Desired Skills and Experience

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Current driver’s license and access to a fully registered and comprehensively insured motor vehicle;
  • Personal smart phone & internet access
  • Must speak a language other than English (Hindi, Tamil or Arabic speaking highly desirable)
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts between Monday – Friday
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to engage effectively with a broad audience
  • Knowledge and ability in supporting consumers from a Culturally and Linguistically
  • Diverse Background
  • Ability to work autonomously supporting consumers living within their own homes
  • Current Australian National Police check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain) 
  • Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

DESIRABLE CRITERIAS

  • Bilingual
  • Certificate III or IV in Individual Support – Ageing or similar
  • Awareness of the Aged Care Quality Standards and Aged Care Quality & Safety Commission
